Did you know that 84% of consumers trust peer recommendations above any other source of advertising when it comes to shopping for their favourite products?
There's a reason why the global influencer market has more than doubled since 2019: with the rise of influencers across social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, brands are recognising the power influencers can have over their audience - particularly when it comes to which products (whether it be fashion, beauty, or homeware) they'd recommend.
And this is what makes influencer marketing so detrimental to your business's marketing strategy!
Not only does influencer marketing allow brands to connect with consumers in an authentic way, but it also helps brands build trust with their customers and spreads awareness of their brand without using traditional forms of advertising that may typically go unnoticed (e.g. with Gen Z and Millenial demographics).
Not yet convinced? Here are some more interesting stats about the power of influencer marketing and reasons to invest that may just sway you to invest in influencer marketing for your 2023 marketing strategy!
1) Consumers Are More Likely to Trust Influencer's Recommendations
Trust is important to consumers: in a survey conducted by Matter Communications, 61% of consumers trust influencers' recommendations on a product, versus only 38% for branded social content.
I know that personally, I'm far more likely to try out a product if it's been recommended by one of my favourite eco-influencers. With so many brands out there guilty of 'greenwashing', it can be difficult to know who to trust - and that's where the power and persuasion of our favourite influencers come in!
2) Consumers Are More Likely to Purchase A Product if It's Been Influencer-Approved
According to research conducted by Izea, 56% of respondents have purchased a product after seeing it be recommended by an influencer.
Despite the recent trend coined 'de-influencing' with influencers advising their audiences on which products to avoid instead of purchasing, some people argue that this is still a form of influencing. Consumers ultimately still trust the opinion of their favourite influencers on which products to consume, so it really comes as no surprise that such a high number of consumers would go on to purchase a product if it's been recommended by an influencer they trust.
3) Influencer Marketing is Gaining Popularity Rapidly - And It Isn't Stopping Any Time Soon
Considering 93% of marketers have used influencer marketing as part of their strategy - if you're not investing in influencer marketing by now, you're missing out!
In 2023 the concept of the word 'influencer' is evolving. Although influencer marketing has been around for a while, we're learning that it's not only about the number of followers an influencer has, but the influencers with dedicated followers and niche knowledge of their content e.g. fashion, lifestyle or sustainability that can make a difference when it comes to marketing your product.
The stats speak for themselves: now it's time to bite the bullet and introduce influencer marketing to your strategy to boost your brand's presence on social media!
