Sustainable Self-Care Part Three | Sustainable Self-Care Ideas for Stress Awareness Month

Last week, I shared Part Two of my Sustainable Self-Care series for Stress Awareness Month.

After recently experiencing burnout earlier this year (which inevitably led to me taking a much-needed break from posting on Instagram), I realised just how important it is to take time for yourself to recharge and relax. Self-care gives us the opportunity to slow down, take a deep breath, and actually process our emotions/everything else that may be going on in our life!

Looking after both your physical and mental health is something we should all be focussing on, which is why I felt it was important to create this series full of sustainable self-care ideas so that you can make time for yourself without feeling guilty.

Keep on reading to discover my third Sustainable Self-Care tip to help boost your mood, lessen your anxiety, and improve your mental health this Stress Awareness Month:

Sustainable Self-Care Tip Number 3: Invigorate Your Senses

Did you catch my 4 ingredient cookie recipe? My fave snack!

When practising self-care, it's important to cater to all of our senses: taste, touch, smell, and sound.

For taste, you can treat yourself to a healthy snack. For touch, pamper yourself with an at-home facial using sustainable skincare. For smell, I like to light my favourite eco-friendly scented candles. As for sound, I like to listen to my favourite music or switch on a podcast. One podcast that I'm absolutely obsessed with at the moment is The Creators Corner by Jade Beason and I just can't get enough!

Using just one of our senses, e.g. listening to music, allows us to relax by quieting the racing thoughts circling around our brain.

So this week, I want you to set aside some for yourself where you won't be distracted to disconnect from the busyness of life. Pop your headphones in, close your eyes, and take some time to be still with a podcast or some relaxing music. Studies actually prove that music is effective for stress and relaxation, so choose wisely!

Stay tuned for next week's blog post where we'll be sharing part FOUR of our Sustainable Self-Care series - in the meantime, feel free to connect with me over on the @AllThingsGreenn Instagram for weekly positivity whilst you join me in practising sustainable self-care.

And remember: looking after yourself and prioritising self-care ultimately helps you to be the *best* eco-warrior you can be! 💚
