Leading a sustainable lifestyle is a process of trial and error. Not every eco-friendly swap you make is going to work for you and your lifestyle. I went through my fair share of shampoo bars (😅) before I found the one that was perfect for me and I'm still not 100% convinced on wax wraps, but that's all part of the journey!
Finding a natural, sustainable deodorant has been a challenge. This was a sustainable swaps I was not willing to compromise on, it had to be perfect. I used Wild deodorant for about a year as that's the plastic-free deodorant most people start with and find works amazing for them. But I was never 100% sold on Wild. I liked the refillable aspect and how amazing it smells, but I didn't feel fully protected and it often stained my clothing.
Then it was just by chance (honestly I do sometimes feel like social media/phones read your mind) that I saw an influencer ad about Nuud. I was so desperate to find something that would work for me that I bought it that day - which is something I never do! I was persuaded by the hundreds of positive reviews on the Nuud website and curious to find out if it really was as amazing as everyone was saying.
I found it really fascinating to learn about how Nuud works differently to other deodorants (I'm a nerd, I know!) Nuud is an anti-odorant, which essentially means instead of clogging pores to prevent sweat like your standard deodorants they use an anti-odorant formula that neutralises the bacteria in your sweat that causes smell. This is done by their main ingredient - micro silver - which naturally prevents the smell of sweat. Super cool, right?! Sweating is an essential, natural process that allows our bodies to release toxins - we shouldn't be trying to prevent it.
The main benefit of using is that it only has to be applied every few days - yes, you read that correctly! For some people it's every 2 days for others every week. I've been using Nuud for a month now and found that every 2 days is working best, but that number usually increases the longer you use it. As the Nuud formula is really concentrated, you only need to use a pea-sized drop every time you apply it which means a 20ml tube can last 6 - 7 weeks! 🤯 Name me another deodorant who can do all that...
Their formula is also 100% natural, vegan and cruelty free and packaged in a bioplastic sugarcane tube. So you're helping the planet and your health 💚
I've had a really positive experience with Nuud and would highly recommend it! I've found that it's best to apply after a shower so you're nice and fresh, and it works best with shaved/trimmed armpits. Whenever my hair has grown out longer a centimetre it hasn't been as effective at preventing smell. I also think it's effectiveness might be affected by the hormones in your menstrual cycle, as I noticed it wasn't as good at the end of the month, but this is something I'm going to explore/track more.
