How to be a Vegan Advocate without being Vegan I Vegan Lifestyle Tips I Veganuary 2023

If you weren't aware, we're around half way through Veganuary! A global campaign to encourage individuals to eat vegan for the month of January.

Whether you're already taking part in Veganuary or not 100% sure about making the lifestyle change yet, you can still support the vegan movement! Just because you're not fully plant based doesn't mean you can't still make positive changes to support veganism.

Because I'm not vegan but I still do things in my everyday life to support the planet and animals by eating more plant based!

Here are three ways you can be a vegan advocate without being vegan:

1) Eat less meat and dairy

It sounds simple, but it can honestly have a huge impact! For example, one serving of steak is the equivalent to driving nearly 350 miles in your car! By reducing how much animal products you eat you can help reduce your impact on the planet. Whether you decide to try Meatless Monday's or just eat meat and dairy on the weekend - there's loads of options to make it work with your lifestyle. It doesn't have to be all or nothing approach. Even just one meal or one day a week can have a big impact!

2) Shop vegan skincare products

It's easy to forget that veganism isn't just about food. One other key area to support veganism is with vegan and cruelty free skincare products! Take a look at the brands you currently use and do some research to find their values. Do they use animal ingredients? Are they against animal testing? If you find that they're not vegan or cruelty free see if you can find some better, vegan alternatives. It's such an easy way to support veganism!

3) Choose veggie / vegan meals when eating out

If you're unsure about cooking veggie/vegan meals, or live with people that don't want to get involved, then choosing to eat off the vegan menu when dining out is a great solution! Not only are the plant based options usually cheaper, they're usually healthier and better for the planet. They're also a great opportunity to explore plant based options and alternatives to help build your familiarity with vegan and vegetarian options. Eventually you can try re-creating these recipes at home!
